The skid awareness and vehicle dynamics – includes:
1. A brief theory class to ensure drivers understand:
- The most common types of skid; where and why they occur
- The forces acting on a vehicle in motion
- The driver’s control inputs and how they affect vehicle stability
- The concepts behind active safety technology
2. Practical demonstrations by the trainer and an introduction to skid control techniques.
3. ‘Hands-on’ practice for participants, covering:
Active safety systems, e.g. ABS, TCS and ESP
- Emergency braking techniques
- Braking and avoidance techniques
- Understanding vehicle dynamics
- Understeer and oversteer exercises

This half-day course provides an excellent introduction for drivers wishing to take the IAM Advanced Driving Test, achieve an internationally recognised qualification and gain membership of the IAM.
